The origins of lost-wax casting
Lost-wax casting or investment casting is a process that was already in-use many centuries ago. As the years went by the process was forgotten, but Renaissance artists rediscovered it.

The procedure was again abandoned until around 1897, when a dentist conceived the idea of reusing the technique for dentistry. After over a century perfecting both the techniques and materials required, lost-wax casting is now used in jewellery crafting, especially in serial production of complex objects.
